WHAT TO EXPECT

New patients may fill out the intake forms online or arrive to their appointment 10-15 minutes early in order to fill out intake forms. If a patient prefers a masked session, please let us know. During the initial consultation we will review and discuss your medical history in order to determine a treatment plan catered to your healthcare needs. The treatment plan may include follow-up functional medicine assessments, acupuncture treatments, lifestyle & dietary recommendations, gua sha (stimulating the skin), tui na (manual therapy & myofascial release), an Eastern Medicine herbal formula (supplement) prescription, cupping and/or moxibustion (thermal therapy). For those without health concerns there’s the option of scheduling routine maintenance for invigorating the immune system, improving sleep and reducing stress.

After the initial appointment there may be recommended follow-up visits necessary in order to work toward achievable health and wellness goals. When utilizing functional medicine, acupuncture and Eastern Medicine there may be immediate results or the need to follow-up with around 6-12 consecutive weekly appointments. Patients with complex cases or chronic conditions may need regular visits. The patients that find the most success schedule 1-2 appointments per week for the first 6 weeks. Once they find relief from their initial problem they move towards scheduling 1 appointment per week, bi-weekly or once every 4 weeks. Happy patients report that regular appointments improve their quality of life overall.

During acupuncture treatments the patient may experience either no pain or minimal pain. The single use sterilized surgical steel acupuncture needles utilized are tiny compared to hypodermic needles used for blood work. In fact, it’s possible to fit around 30 acupuncture needles inside of a hypodermic needle. The patient may experience subtle sensations of pressure, numbness or moving sensations throughout the body. There’s also the option of receiving no-needle electroacupuncture or acupressure. Acupuncture sessions may vary from 10 to 45 minutes.

“Dr. Bonnie Forrester’s thorough assessment of chi is one of the most meaningful offerings I have received. She is a patient and giving practitioner who spends the time to learn about you. Dr. Bonnie has the patient understanding to listen to the rhythm of the body: where flow is stuck, blocked and articulates with passion the areas of the body involved in this flow. She helped me identify quickly a pathway in my body causing me serious ailments before exploring the treatment. Her knowledge comes from deep passion. I received compassionate thai therapy from her as well, and the fluid moving stretches with restorative holding postures really left me with more body awareness and even more capacity for self love and acceptance. All these qualities built my trust in her abilities. Dr. Bonnie is a down-to-earth passionate woman with an immense love for life, the Earth and plants and herbs.”

“Dr. Bonnie Forrester treated me for a condition causing inflammation. Her calm demeanor, combined with the relaxing environment, helped me feel at ease. Dr Forrester is very thorough and knowledgeable, explaining each step throughout our session. I especially appreciated her light touch with the needles. At the end of our session, Dr. Forrester recommended herbs and natural remedies to help me make small, but impactful, changes to my lifestyle. Although I now live in a different state, I continue to rely on acupuncture for health and wellness. Among the many benefits of acupuncture: —stomach ulcer and acid reflux healed (in combination with recommended herbs and changes to diet) —improves my circulation —helps me maintain energy —treats anxiety and other mental states —helped me deal with the trauma of losing my son in a car accident —helps me to achieve mind/body balance My husband was healed of painful hemorrhoids through acupuncture and herbs, thus avoiding surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Forrester!”
